From the Cradle to the Grave.

[2022]

From the Cradle to the Grave explores the scale of the global textile industry. By unpicking these complexities, this work weaves together the causalities of this non-circular economy in an attempt to understand the importance of creating a

'cradle to grave' trajectory.

From the Cradle to the Grave was created with textile waste from Portsmouth, my hometown, to demonstrate the sheer scale at which humans generate textile waste, as well as the problematic nature of recycling when materials are mixed. Cradle attempts to demonstrate the importance of circular economies to the textile industry: from me, a Portsmouth local just trying to dispose of my unwanted textiles; to multinationals wreaking havoc on our environments.
